Has been skiing for over 30 years and is the founder of Ski Tutor, with the goal of making skiing more accessible to those who are new to the sport. After a modest start on 300 foot bumps in the Midwestern US, he has since traveled throughout North America, appreciating the uniqueness and variety of different ski regions.
Luca is the Chief Tutor at Ski Tutor and has a lifelong passion for skiing. He learned to ski on the small hills of Minnesota (big thanks to Afton Alps and Powder Ridge!), and went on his first major family ski trip to Copper Mountain, Colorado when he was 5. Even though he had to miss the first day due to altitude sickness, that trip left a lasting impression on him, making him love the sport.
Luca remained an average intermediate skier until his mid-20s, hardly ever trying black diamond or higher runs. On a trip to Aspen in 2018, he discovered that most of the difference between skiing blues and blacks was mental, especially once he mastered the basic techniques of the sport, such as parallel skiing. Since then, Luca has become an expert all-mountain skier, learning additional skills for technical terrain and finding other skiers that would challenge him on mountain.
On this journey, he realized that learning to ski, and especially, overcoming those mental barriers is a major challenge for most skiers that are new to the sport. That’s why he started Ski Tutor, to offer an accessible and practical resource for those who want to ski, whether for their own interest, or to join their family and friends in the mountains.
He currently has a Mountain Collective and Afton Alps season pass and lives in Minneapolis, MN with his wife and daughter.
